The Likpe Paragliding festival of Likpe, held during the Christmas season, started in December 2014, with 20 tourist mainly from Germany and United States and some Ghanaians registering for the maiden flight. The three take off sites 800 metre above sea level with three landing sites witnessed hundreds of spectators to become the second paragliding festival in Ghana and only in the Volta Region. One Indian Milind Nadkarni remarked after his flight “This is amazing, it is something everyone should experience in a lifetime, it is very safe.” The festival, organized by Kortini Adventure Resort, Sekpele Fm and Malaysia Gardens is characterized by aerial fun, traditional music and dance and merry making. There are other interesting side attractions such as visiting Likpe Ancestral Caves and Wadjekli waterfall. All these are located with Likpe community in the Hohoe Municipality. The popular Wli Waterfall, the highest waterfall in Ghana and West Africa is also less than 5km away. The event has since become an annual affair called Likpe Christmas Paragliding Festival.Getting there. The best way if not using a personal car is to join public transport called trotro from Hohoe township or hire a taxi. In your private car you will turn right close St Francis Training College when driving from Hohoe main township.
