Shai Hills Reserve

Shai Hills Resource Reserve with area of 47 square kilometres is the closest wildlife reserve to the city of Accra(50km) is located in Doryumu in the Shai Osudoku District all in the Greater Accra Region. The vegetation is mainly savannah and home to over 175 species of birds, 31 different mammal and 13 different species of reptiles. Baboons are always found at any visit even along the main Accra-Akosombo road at the reserve. This offers a convenient leisure tour in Ghana if you live in the capital city, Accra. It is a game reserve in Ghana you are always sure to view a game on a visit. It became a game reserve in 1971.The site was once a home to the Shai people who were ejected from the land by the British in 1892 and the remains of the people can still be found at the reserve.
